"Think About Tomorrow" traces its roots to Feb
27, 1974 when the recommendation was made to sponsor a
radio ministry called "Think About It", a one
minute "thought for the day", beginning on 4
stations. The vision continued to grow when the 30 minute
"Think About Tomorrow" radio program began
airing on 59AM WRTH. A vote was made to begin a
Television Ministry on August 7th of that year. On Sunday
evening, Nov. 17, 1974, the first fund raising banquet
was held at the Florissant Civic Center raising
commitments of over $100,000.
On January 5, 1975, "Think About Tomorrow"
aired for the first time at 9:30pm on KPLR Channel 11. In
October of 1975, Pastor Werner recommended that we
discontinue the program for a year, and the last program
aired on November 30, 1975.
Following a one year break, plans to return to
television began. The decision was made to use our own
people and to purchase our own equipment to produce the
program. Equipment was purchased, highlighted by the
completion of a production truck by Television
Engineering Corporation. Finally, on Christmas 1977,
"Think About Tomorrow" returned to the air and
by January 18, 1978 callers were again being led to the
Lord.
"Think About Tomorrow" aired consistently on
KPLR Channel 11 until the Fall of 2006.
Today, it airs on Charter cable throughout the St.
Louis region. In addition to the service
broadcasts, the television crew has taped the Ferguson 4th
of July parade for broadcast on Charter cable and hosted
the PAX broadcast of Kurt Warners speech at the
2002 St. Louis Mayors Prayer Breakfast.
It has been viewed by hundreds of thousands in the St.
Louis metro area, by even more as it was aired nationally
on CBN and it has received three Emmy Awards. Hundreds of
our members have been involved in the program as crew
members, counselors, or financial supporters.
While impressive,
this is not what motivates us. When the phone rings on
Sunday morning and the caller asks "Can you tell me
how to know Jesus", then we know that God still has
a plan for "Think About Tomorrow". Uncounted
hundreds have found Jesus as Lord through the years and
thousands of others have received spiritual counseling.
This was the vision for the program at the beginning and
it remains the vision for the future. Techniques and
formats may change, but reaching our city, our state, our
country with the Gospel remains the goal for which we
strive.
Are there challenges
before us? You bet! Cutting through all the junk on the
television today has never been more challenging.
Determining and developing a style that both catches the
viewers attention and also reaches them spiritually is a
constant challenge. Financial resources needed to meet
upcoming equipment requirements are going to test our
faith and resolve. Technical advances are going to
stretch our training and skills in many ways.
Can you be a part of this ministry? Most
certainly! Your support is vital to the
continuation of this ministry. Your financial gifts allow
us to purchase airtime, maintain equipment, pay salaries,
and prepare for future needs. You may wish to become a
crew member, counselor, or work with follow-up. We would
welcome your participation.
Most of all, we need your prayer
support. Pray that we will stay firmly on course in His
will. Pray that we will not get so caught up in doing a
television production that we lose sight of why we are
doing it. Pray for the viewers that see the program. Pray
that the Holy Spirit will touch them and urge them to
act. Pray for the equipment. Even in the best of times,
technology has a way of creating problems that must be
overcome. Pray for the pastor as he delivers Gods
word. Pray for the health of our crew. We need each and
every one of them. Pray for our counselors as they talk
to people who are hurting, are searching, are lost. Pray
that the Holy Spirit will give them the words to say.
Pray.
The past 33 years has been exciting and we cant
wait to see what the next 25 years will bring. God is big
enough to meet all our needs and we believe that He has
wonderful and exciting plans for us. Stay tuned.
