The Joint Committee consists of the
National Baptist and the Southern Baptist. This Committee
began the early part of the 1980's by the St. Louis Metro
Baptist Association. Curtis Felkner with a two fold
purpose in mind. He wanted to bring the two denominations
closer together in a mutually cooperative spirit and to
raise funds for minor repairs and other small financial
needs of National Baptist churches. Although it is no
longer necessary to hold fund raising banquets, the
purpose is still the same. 1) A low rate of interest is
charged on outstanding loans for the churches. 2)
Contributions come from membership churches and from St.
Louis Metro Baptist Association.
First Baptist Church
Ferguson has been very supportive in this effort. The
monthly meetings are held here at FBCF and the Annual
Music Festival is hosted here on the first Friday night
in October. It brings together choirs and music from both
National Baptist and Southern Baptist churches and a
fellowship wit refreshments is held after the music
festival.
